Saying good bye to 2016
If you haven’t already heard about Jose Ignacio it’s a very small town in Uruguay. It has a beautiful lighthouse at the very tip of the tiny peninsula, and the beaches are magical. The NE side is wavy, called “la Brava” (means furious) and the SW side is like a bay, they call it “la Mansa” (the calm) the beauty of this little town is that you can do one side to another in 10 minute walk.
There are great restaurants (i’ll name a few), galleries, little coffee shops, a couple of markets, little boutiques spread all over town, and a center “plaza” where you buy the paper or take the kids to the playground.
The most amazing thing to do here is sit down and watch sunsets surrounded by friends and family… slow afternoons turn into night having mate (our very usual infusion) and then maybe, switch to Caipiroshkas -the version of Caipirinha, but substituting Cachaça (a distilled Brazilian spirit made from sugarcane juice) for vodka -I’ll find a good recipe and give it to you later… its very good!
