Lately, started to play sports in order to be able to get some exercise, because it’s not always fun to do train. When you have to exercise a s an obligation, somehow, it gets heavier. So, when you don’t realize you’ve been working out, because you are engaged, time flies when you are having fun.
Tennis is a sport I started as a grown up. I didn’t start young like my children have. It’s been 5 years already that Hilario beats me at tennis and it won’t take too long until Artemio, my 7 year old, will do too. But that doesn’t stop me from going on. It’s a great sport to share with friends, and you don’t realize and you are out in the open air (weather permits) which is so good for your mind.
Another sport I love doing but it’s a bit more of a loner sport is swimming. But fist things first: I love all things water. Surf (I try to) – scooba (It’s fascinating to me to be able to breathe underwater) I’ve been in Mexico and chile, and of course in my beloved Patagonia. Very different experiences all of them. I also like to water ski, but I don’t do it as often.
I used to be an athlete, so I am a huge believer that our body’s muscles have memory. So, if you have been a constant mover – I mean working out for al least 30′ 3 x a week- don’t worry too much , if you have to stop for a while, it will all go back to normal faster than you expect.
If you are not that regular or constant then it might take you a bit longer. And always take it easy at the beginning.
But don’t give up! There is nothing better than the feeling of the endorphins once your done with your routine. Give it at least 6 sessions, and you’ll get what I’m saying.
Get your heart pumping and have some fun!! And why not in style too (here by Tory Sport)
I also love to try new things. I take advantage of the hotel’s health club, specially at St Regis, and do some of their programmed outdoor activities. I like trying new activities, or their fitness program. This time I made may self do a boot camp class, which I had never done before, because I was terrified of the name! Anyways it was strong but very good. By V art of wellness, I had fun. It was intense but totally happy with it.
This was my routine: 15 minute warmup jog, a circuit of 3 sets of 30 sec each exercise w resting in between sets of 1 minute
Pick up the ball and squat then leave it down and change arm.
