LIGHTNING TRIP
When we found out that the daughter of one of my closest friends was getting married, we knew right away we were going to go. No matter what! Even though we were going to be in California on the big day, last Sunday, and the event was taking place in New York City. So what if it meant we would have to travel from one coast to another in the span of three short, jam-packed days? It was a “viaje relámpago” in Spanish, a lightning trip, a jaunt as quick as a flash of lightning.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME
At the wedding, which was lovely, I wore {this} amazing dress by Ralph Lauren . We stayed at the St Regis Hotel, which has become a real home away from home for us. We love it, especially when we have the kids in tow because the staff goes to great lengths to maximize our family’s quality time. My dream is to one day visit their resort in the Maldives so I can take dreamy, underwater photos in that crystal clear sea.
PIT STOP
Nacho and I had meetings on the Monday morning after the wedding. But in the afternoon, I carved out some “me” time and made a pit stop at my fave Frederic Fekkai salon on Fifth Avenue. After getting a beautiful cut, my stylist put in some of Fekkai’s signature “balayage” highlights. With all the traveling we do throughout the year, it’s key that the subtle effects of balayage allow me to go four entire months between appointments. Straight highlighting, for instance, doesn’t have the same longevity. Balayage is also less damaging to the hair. Hey, we’re all for healthy strands, right?
HAIR DESIRES
Who doesn’t like to go into a hair place knowing that the stylists will understand her desires? We have all ended up at one time or another at the mercy of a random color technician. And of course we usually walked out of the salon with unwanted results. How frustrating and disappointing! At this point in my life, time for hair care is precious. When I find a winner salon like Fekkai, you’d better believe that I’ll keep going back. In my experiences there, Elie Camoro, Daniel Vilano, Sandra and Lena have all been terrific.
TOP SECRET PROJECT
As if all this activity weren’t enough for our three-day lightning trip, we also squeezed a half day in the state of Ohio on our way back to Cali. We had a meeting in Columbus for a top secret project. Intriguing! Our hotel was a cute little place called The Joseph. I really liked this city and wished we could have done it more justice. But something tells me that we will be back there soon and I am looking forward to it!
WAS IT JUST A DREAM?
When we finally arrived back on the West Coast late Tuesday the whole trip started to feel as if it had been a dream. You know what I mean? It’s so funny — I feel this way constantly. Mostly when I travel to the other side of the country and back in three days!
Here are some of the items that help me keep my act together on these so-called lightning trips. I hope you find that they help you, too. And hearing from you is wonderful, so please feel free to leave your comments below.
By the way, I didn’t actually travel with the flamingo, but it looks so cute on this grid that I think I’ll get it for Alba. She’s a stuffed-animal lover.

I’ve asked this before and I really want to know……………who is taking all the fabulous photos of you and Nacho together? i know that he is taking photos of you and you are taking photos of him but there are so many of the two of you. do you have a photographer who hangs out with you? the photos are all beautiful by the way
I often wondered myself … knowing you are an amazing photographer who takes the photos of you & nacho ? … I love all the items you posted and most I can not afford but it’s ok because I just love looking at them.. I always thought a great way to make money for charity is for celebrities to see there unwanted clothes shoes bag costume jewelry whatever , but make it affordable so fans can buy them as well .., I know I am a dreamer but hey you never know lol love lisa
Thank you! I will try to make an affordable grid next time! But I am glad this is making you dream! Never stop dreaming! xx
Hi Donna thank you so much for you kind words. The photos I take of nacho and I usually are shot on a mini tripod I travel with. And the camera I use is still the Leica for traveling. Im working on changing my old (huge and heavy) Canon for a smaller one, though. But for now thats it…

Love the st. Regis in NY, they have butlers to iron and put away your clothes
Hi Delfina: Love what you are doing with your blog post and am really enjoying its evolution 🙂 Thank you for opening up and sharing about some of your “loves” and your life in general! always looking forward to the next post.
Thank you!
Hola! Oh, my! Incredible! Before I had to travel a LOT and had to go and work the next day totally jetlagged. Now, when i travel & when i get back home i have to rest flat on the bed for about a week. I feel my soul is still up in the air. I feel like a dinosaur. But how cool it is to travel and wander around cities & discover things, even if you’re in a “thunder trip”?? I love your hairstyle. I’m in a new city now so I’m on the quest for a new stylist. Baylage will be too. Less damage for sure. I hope you get to rest flat on the bed even if for a bit. I love the flamingo, I want it for myself, hA ha! Also love the pants!

Well as usual I love your posts and your family. I don’t follow many celebrities but You guys are the best and I look forward to all the photos and stories. So cute the kids are . I am always smiling and wish them well. Anyway I love the pants and your haircut is a big yes. I am traveling to Los Angeles on friday and coming home tuesday. I do this trip often to visit my daughter. I try to go with the flow like my only job is to get on the plane, make myself comfortable by wearing appropriate clothing and having my devises and my magazines and a good book. I let the pilots get me there. Before I know it I have arrived. I try to keep my NY time schedule which is easy because my daughter is an early riser. But I have to say you guys really know what you are doing. Sometimes I am like what??? they are where??? madonna mia!
