travel essentials
The real meaning of Aloha in Hawaiian is that of Love, Peace, and Compassion – I love this!!
We came back from our first trip (ever) to Hawaii, full of wonderful memories and exiting moments. We were so excited about this. Our plan was to relax, and do fun things: like paddle boarding, snorkeling, and swimming with the dolphins, in the wild. Which BTW, I have to admit, it was my favorite moment of all.
We also wanted to go on a road trip round the island. And felt so exiting taking the kids on a 6 hours trip, stopping in places to feel the beauty of the Great Island. I was very amazed about how you drive thru so many diverse climates in like 1 mile.
We also did some hiking, ate lots of yummy food and most af all we chilled with friends and family.
So, here I’ve included a few things, like my travel essentials, that I packed and worked out great. I was mostly hanging out in my bathing suit and cover up (like you are supposed to while vacationing on an island).
I addition, I took my new favorite sunscreen from supergroop mousse. I was great on my face, body, and specially on my children. As a matter of fact, they loved getting all moussed up! Which it’s funny because I usually have to chase them to get their sunscreen on.
Do you have any plans for your summer vacations? Where are you going? I do. In fact, we will be on the road for a “while” longer. So, stay tuned because there will be al lot more to come!

I love your suits, just wish I were as tall as you to pull them off! I went to Italy and sadly already want to go back! The 4th of July is approaching and I’ll be heading to Miami. Im wrapping up the summer in NYC and Mexico. It all always goes by too fast! Ill have to try the sunscreen. The Italian sun left me a little well done this go round. Thanks for sharing! Xo – lori

Hola!
Beautiful post! That strappy swimsuit is gorgeous! I’m short but I’m guessing I can pull it off, haha!
I admire Tata Harper so very much. Love the fact she’s from my country. She inspires me. Actually, SHe reminds me a bit of you, being connected to farm life, and honest perspective, family. I can attest Her products are phenomenal: I tried her face scrub and It was very effective. Worth it a 100%.
agree!!

Wow this post is nearly two years old,I’m behind. I love to catch up on your website from time to time.
As I live in Hawai’i, on the island of O’ahu, I’m SO glad you and your family had a wonderful time ! I’ve heard of swimming with dolphins in the ocean but haven’t done so myself yet. Sounds so magical !
Yes isn’t it incredible that there are many micro climates and topographical features on Hawai’i island ? All the islands are like that,so diverse in many ways.
I recommend you to visit Moloka’i island someday, it is the most unique, “country” and very laid back of the state. I always remember visiting there as a teenager. Isolated, pure, relaxed, very powerful nature and not many other people which is unlike O’ahu and Maui especially. I hope it is still like that !
For my summer plans I am traveling to my ancestral homeland,Croatia,as I do every few years. Croatia is special not only because all my great grandparents are from there, but also due to the unique blend of Slavic,Austrian,Mediterranean and native Croatian cultures, traditions, customs, food and architecture. I’ve never been to such a distinct place and am so proud of my heritage. My family is from small islands in Dalmatia in the south, true island people who grew grapes, olives, lavender and fished from the sea.
I do hope you can visit magical Croatia someday. Just don’t go in July or August when it is the high season and very hectic, crowded and overwhelming for the locals who work so hard. I recommend Mljet for hiking and nature, Zadar for being such a beautiful and calm city with the natural sea organ and incredible sunset,Dubrovnik/Split/Zagreb for cities and try to visit the Peljesac for incredible views and vineyards.
All the best and keep writing !
Thank you This is so useful!!!
